A New Chapter for the Raleigh Money Expo

For years, your support has helped make the Raleigh Money Expo one of the Southeast’s premier regional coin shows. Thanks to our dealers, collectors, volunteers, and the Raleigh Coin Club, the show has grown to the point that it has outgrown its current venue.

Because of that success, Whitman Brands has selected Raleigh as the site of its next premier national Summer coin show. Rather than competing with one another in the same market, Whitman Brands and the Raleigh Coin Club have agreed to partner to create what we believe will become Carolinas’ premier collecting event and one of the country’s most outstanding numismatic events.

The 2027 show will be held June 17-19 at the Raleigh Convention Center, a facility that can accommodate the expanded exhibit space, educational programs, auction activities, meeting rooms, and dealer services expected at a national convention.

We recognize that this represents a significant change, and we also recognize that change brings questions. Our goal is to make this transition as smooth as possible while creating new opportunities for both dealers and collectors.

What this means for dealers

  • A larger audience through Whitman’s national marketing and established customer base.

  • More buying and selling opportunities with additional collectors and national dealers attending.

  • Expanded attractions, including educational programs, exhibits, major auctions, and, if finalized, the leading third-party grading services and the United States Mint.

  • Dealer assistance: Whitman has committed to providing a $400 dealer credit for dealers who participated in either the 2025 or 2026 Raleigh Money Expo. Additional details regarding how this credit will be applied will be provided soon. And if you commit to the show by 31 Jan the credit will be $500.

  • The Raleigh Coin Club remains your partner. This is a partnership between Whitman Brands and the Raleigh Coin Club, and our Club will continue to play an active role in planning and hosting the event. As part of the partnership, the Club has championed the continuation of all educational programming, including Exhibits and our extensive Young Numismatist (YN) area, ensuring these important programs remain a core part of the show.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the Raleigh Money Expo changing?

The Raleigh Money Expo has grown to the point that it can support a national-level event. Whitman Brands recognized that opportunity and selected Raleigh for its next premier show. By partnering rather than competing, both organizations believe they can create a stronger event for dealers, collectors, exhibitors, and the hobby.

Is this partnership permanent?

The current agreement covers the shows of 2027 and 2028. Following these events, both organizations will evaluate the partnership and determine future plans.

Will the table fees be higher than the current Raleigh Money Expo fees?

Yes. National conventions require larger facilities, expanded services, additional security, and broader marketing. These investments are intended to attract more collectors and create greater opportunities for dealers.

Will I receive a dealer promotion?

Yes. Dealers who participated in the 2025 or 2026 Raleigh Money Expo will be eligible for a $400 dealer coupon to redeem for the 2027 show. Additional information on how the credit will be applied will be announced shortly. And if you commit to the show by 31 Jan the credit will be $500.

What if I choose not to participate?

You will receive a full refund of any deposits paid to the Raleigh Coin Club for the 2027 show.

When will I receive additional information?

Information regarding registration, table fees, hotels, parking, loading, and table assignments will be shared as soon as those details are finalized.

We understand that a national convention may not fit every dealer’s business model. If you decide not to participate, any deposits made to the Raleigh Coin Club for the 2027 show will be refunded in full. To simplify the transition, all existing deposits will be returned, and future registrations and payments will be handled directly through Whitman Brands.

Information regarding registration, dealer credits, hotel accommodations, parking, loading procedures, and bourse table assignments will be distributed as those details are finalized.

We are excited about the opportunity to showcase Raleigh on the national numismatic stage and sincerely hope you will join us in making this inaugural partnership a success.
